An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society
OUR VISION
To provide dignity in death to those who have been denied
OUR MISSION
To cremate the unclaimed and poor people because we believe that the last rite is the last samskara in a series of traditional life samskaras which starts from the conception in our Hindu tradition and contributes to our life journey for a peaceful moksha.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is mandated by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, to protect and promote the human rights of all human beings in the country. It is a well-accepted legal position that the right to life, fair treatment and dignity, derived from the Article 21 of the Constitution of India, extends not only to the living persons but also to their dead bodies.
The circumstances of those who die alone may be unfathomable but in Asha’s experience, she usually encounters the bodies of the elderly who have been abandoned by family, those who are depressed and those stricken by poverty. In cases of accidental deaths, the person may be the sole breadwinner of the family and could be a long way from home. We step in and perform the final rites so that the dignity of an individual is maintained even in death.
The stark reality is that for one-fourth of Indians, from the poor, underprivileged, elderly and homeless sections of society, every day is a hunger day with no means for adequate food or nutrition. Hunger leads to malnutrition which in turn leaves people susceptible to diseases.
We wish to feed the poor and homeless of with a simple, home-cooked food
